PGA Tour finale at Disney carries a lot of drama
The Fall Series of the PGA Tour is as usually as anti-climatic as any schedule in any sport in this country. The FedEx Cup is already decided and many of the stars are off playing corporate outings or at home attending their kids’ soccer games.
But this year is different. As the Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals Classic kicks off today at Walt Disney World in Orlando, Luke Donald and Webb Simpson will be paired together in a fight for the PGA Tour’s money title for the year.
"Our main deal for the week is going to be trying to compete and win the golf tournament,” said Simpson, who leads Donald by approximately $320,000. “We obviously want to win the Money List, but in order to do that, we've got to finish strong and have a good week."
Simpson and Donald teed off at 8:20 a.m. this morning on the Palm Course, and go at it again Friday at 12:20 p.m. on the Magnolia Course. Coverage is on The Golf Channel.
The other drama surrounding this event is the fight for full 2012 PGA Tour privileges based on the top 125 money list. The players around the bubble going into this tournament include Stuart Appleby, D.J. Trahan, James Driscoll, Bill Lunde and Billy Mayfair to name a few.
