ING Product of the Week: Chromax Golf Balls

By: ING Staff on 10/21/11 07:22 PM

The colorful Chromax golf ball has been on the market for a few years without much fanfare. But something is starting to happen.

People are trying the golf ball, even if it is out of curiosity.

And they are liking it.

As a result, the Chromax golf ball is the ING Product of the Week.

The Chromax golf ball creates outstanding visibility in all light conditions with High Visibility Technology.

Because of Chromax’s unique inter-illumination between a reflective inner layer and a translucent outer layer, the surface of the golf ball appears brighter. It is REALLY tough to lose, unless you hit it so far out of play that you don’t deserve to find it.

That is a terrific selling point to a market segment that is getting larger by the day.

Said one happy customer on the Chromax website: “I introduced my 73-year-old parents to these balls yesterday and after their first swings, they were hooked. The visibility of the ball in the air and on the ground amazed them. My father loved the way they came off the clubface at impact and my mom just loved the way they looked all the way around. We didn't lose a single ball yesterday, even in the rough. I also gave some to my aunt and uncle and my aunt has notoriously bad eyesight and she was able to track Chromax in the air so she was just thrilled.”

The golf balls come in six vivid colors and two different compressions: 75 for slower swing speeds and 85 compression for the higher swing speeds. The solid core, two-piece ball has a dimple count of 432.

The high-energy inner core (one of the largest in golf history) is mixed with titanium powder. It is molded under high temperatures and extreme pressure for superior durability, elasticity and a high coefficient of restitution. The poly-resin outer cover offers superior cut resistance, cold temperature flexibility, medium spin rate, and a high-energy return.

The end result: This Chromax golf ball provides more than simply a good Easter egg hunt. It actually works.

“I picked up 1/2 dozen of your balls on a recent trip,” said a customer on the website. “I must admit I bought the ball for the "cool" factor, but was pleasantly surprised at the playability. I use Pro VI's so I know my ball. It played well and looked good.”

Chromax golf balls retail for $19.95 per half dozen, and can be found at many golf retail stores.
