ING Product of the Week: Polara golf balls get straight to the point

By: ING Staff on 10/29/11 10:03 PM

You’re about to pull the trigger on a very important tee shot when your rude buddy reminds you of the out of bounds on the right.

At that moment, besides wanting to stuff a golf sock down your buddy’s throat, you wish you had something that would guarantee a straight tee shot .

Now you practically do, thanks to the ING Product of the Week, the Polara Ultimate Straight golf ball. The International Network of Golf, based in Lake Mary, FL, is a 22-year-old non-profit media-based networking organization.

Polara Golf promises up to 75 percent reduction in your hooks and slices with its Ultimate Straight golf balls. Polara’s Self-Correcting Technology makes that possible with a combination of technological advances, including small dimples, shallow dimples and deep dimples that together reduce sidespin that causes slices and hooks.

Polara is available in a two-piece model ($24.95 per dozen), or the three-piece XS ($34.95).

There is only one negative with the Polara: It does not confirm to w rules, so it can’t be played in official USGA or professional tour events.

That wasn’t the case when the Polara golf ball was first introduced in the 1970s. It was so popular then that over 300,000 balls were sold before the USGA altered the guidelines and deemed Polara non-conforming. The original creators took the ball off the market.

Now it is back, thanks to former Callaway Golf executive Dave Felker, chairman of Polara Golf. And it is gaining momentum with the weekend golfers who aren’t concerned with conforming to USGA rules.

They are simply concerned with beating their rude golf buddies.
